Following university, where I studied corporate finance, economics and management information systems, it was clear that my career path would be far from the traditional – this being exactly how I would have both wished and intended it to be.

Throughout the 1990’s, I was primarily engaged in the direct funding and raising of investment and venture capital for US-based internet and dotcom companies. During this time, I also served in various advisory roles, assisting start-up and mid-sized companies with corporate and strategic planning, structuring complex financial transactions, managing financial operations, and overseeing their transition to becoming public reporting entities.

In 2000, following a series of successful initial public offerings, merger & acquisition transactions and strategic sales, as well as the occasional business flop, several former colleagues and I created a private equity company, which subsequently expanded to include a niche corporate and financial advisory practice.

During the next 12 years, I had the opportunity and pleasure of serving as a strategic corporate advisor to many early and mature stage public and private companies, with revenues ranging from NIL to $115.0 million annually. As well, I directly managed and participated in nearly two dozen financing transactions and served in a number of interim executive positions, including CFO and CEO.

In addition to private sector business experience, I have served as an economic advisor and consultant for several foreign governments, as well as a Business Planning Officer and Senior International Affairs Advisor for the Government of Canada.

I have previously and continue to present to international business symposia and have organized and participated in several business strategy and policy conferences for both the public and private sectors in North America.

When not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling (for leisure), reading non-fiction and historical works and mountain climbing. I am also a Transport Canada and FAA qualified pilot, CSPA licensed sky-diver (retired), and PADI certified rescue scuba diver.

Professional expertise and experience includes: Corporate finance, operations management (seed thru exit); corporate development, strategy and governance; restructuring and turnaround; international joint venture formation and management; private equity and venture capital.
